a little about myself
I'm a fourth year Industrial Design student, originally from Queenstown, New Zealand.
In 2014 I spent a year and a half in Munich, Germany, where I studied at Hochschule München. This was a great experience as I was learning a very different design process to Massey University in Wellington. While there I did workshops in a few different design studios including IDEO and Testbirds learning a lot about user testing and qualitative research methods. It was hard being lost in translation but a huge eye opener.
Industrial Design: I have always liked to make things, as a kid sculpture and wood carving would keep me in the garage till way past my bed time. As a teenager spray painting with stencils became my next addiction which led to my first solo exhibition in 2012 at Fluid Gallery in Queenstown. Now I am out in the real world and trying to set myself up for an exciting and prosperous career. From learning about the effects of the things we make and produce, I am becoming more conscious of how I live. I don't believe everything should be automated and done for people, I think the joy is in the process, just like the journey is far more important than the destination. I think people like learning and participating so I want the things I design to reflect that.
Photography: Even though I call myself an Industrial Designer I think photography is an extremely powerful tool. I surround myself with creative and adventurous people so taking photos to experiment and document comes naturally. On the following pages are a variation of film and digital photos as well as a photo blog to keep you up to date on my projects and adventures.
If you would like to use anything from my page I am happy to share for free, just send me a message on the contact form first.
