Film
Since moving to Wellington I have discovered the practice of film photography, I have noticed the nonsense that comes from the readings of these photographs so I will state from the beginning that film photography to me is just another method to documenting my life, it’s primarily there on a personal level as apposed to questioning life or portraying an idea. The attraction to film originally came from the design of the cameras themselves, the complex mechanical bodies that have lasted decades because of their design and material. The idea that you only have 36 exposures suites my stingy nature to only photograph something once you have thought through every possible angle. And finally there’s the excitement to see what’s on the roll after the tenuous waiting and developing stage. These are some of the photos I’ve taken using a range of 35 mm cameras.
