We were asked to design 2 objects; The first is meant to display a 200 gram rock while following a minimal material form language. To understand minimal material forms we created spaghetti bridges and towers in order to hold the most weight with the least material.
for my minimal material sculpture I incorporated an organic aesthetic that contrasted with the fish net and its fitting to identify a relationship between natural and man made forms. it is made from Jarrah (Australian hardwood) and fish net stockings. The second is a handle that uses Jarrah and steel and employs a specific semantic to communicate its function. I started with a broken shell like you would find on a beach and developed it into a medieval sword hilt looking handle.
