Pretty cool to see the results of our trip through Austria last month. Scanning the film is one thing but having a dark room to enlarge is so much more fun. I have been preparing some photos for our New place in Munich as well as some little wallet size snapshots for the whānau!
check out my VSCO blog for our most recent adventure through Austria, Snowboarding and Couchsurfing. Winter this year started slow but when it did start snowing there was now stopping it. We experienced the most snow we have ever seen and with four weeks stayed in four amazing places. Spitzingsee was the first place we went snowboarding and what a way to kick it off. The two mountains surrounding the small heart shaped lake provided us with plenty of entertainment for one day. Next was the town of Ehrwald, dwarfed by the highest mountain in Germany and right on the border of Austria where we did our first Couchsurfing with Jan. The snow started falling the day we arrived and didn't stop till 2 days later, with that came a bluebird day and somehow no lift lines.
The next stop was Innsbruck, the capital of Tyrol where we stayed with Martin and Steffi. On our first outing with them we ate pizza at the Italian boarder in Brennero, otherwise known as the saddest town in Europe. After that we hiked up to a monastery where we sledded down in the dark. After much hassle with finding our next host we trained up to Kufstein where we stayed with Bobby and Bastienne and enjoyed our favourite day of the trip with waist deep champagne powder and beautiful weather. You couldn't get the smile off of Giulias face after her first experience in powder. We had a lot of fun with these two playing Cards Against Humanity and sledding so much that the only way to stop was from a mild concussion.. After leaving Kufstein for Rosenheim we realised how good we had it in Austria. We finished our trip with one more day up a small mountain in Oberaudorf where Giulia accomplished her goal of linking turns and even shared a T-bar with me for the first time. Unfortunately the joy was short lived when she was carted off to hospital after a tumble hitting her head and hurting her shoulder. Back In Hamburg now and enjoying home cooked meals and sleeping in. Giulia has a doctors appointment Monday, so we can see what she's done to her shoulder. Here is a link to my VSCO to see more. |
